Indigenous Greek Black Pig
Behind the majestic name of “Greco Negro” lies the most ancient Greek pig breed. The traces of this breed in the Greek territory date back to 9000 B.C. It is the breed that was kept by Evmaios, the mythical pig herder of Odysseus and it was the one that fed the Greek countryside up until some decades ago.
Unlike the other breeds, the black pig develops in an extensive form, spending most of its life on mountain pastures with wild olive trees, acorns and several herbs being its natural feed to which it owes its excellent taste and high nutritional value.
With the precious Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, the unique quality and high nutritional value meat of the indigenous Greek black pig finds its identity and is called Greco Negro having the guaranteed quality of the Hellenic Premium Meat.
